An 8 Days Cold Desert Spiti Valley Trip

Are you feeling the wanderlust to travel in scenic mountains? In that case, This place is absolute bliss for you. The Spiti valley, also known as the "Middle Land," is a Trans-Himalayan region that borders Tibet. The Spiti valley is home to some of the oldest monasteries in the Himalayas. This place has a lot to offer, from an extraordinary landscape to beautiful monasteries. Join us as we go through a society that has been stuck in time.

Wander around, discovering the picture-postcard communities, navigating the treacherous mountain passes, and allowing the brisk wind to pierce your flesh. The Lahaul-Spiti vacation itinerary perfectly nourishes your soul as you immerse yourself in nature at elevations of approximately 5000 metres above sea level!

Why should Spiti be on your wanderlust list?

Spiti's one-of-a-kind topography attracts tourists of all ages and social backgrounds. But before finalising the Lahaul Spiti trip itinerary, you should know a few things.

  • The valley lies 4270 m above sea level, and its climate is notoriously fickle.
  • The valley is home to a rich diversity of plant and animal life. Visitors to Pin Valley National Park may also see wild animals in the winter.
  • In the valley, camping and hiking are two of the best ways to spend a vacation.
  • Be prepared for a solitary existence in the valley. Spitians are generally okay with the fact that network connectivity is elusive. You could perhaps obtain a BSNL signal in some areas.
  • Culture and lifestyle-wise, it's very similar to Tibet.

When to Go to Spiti?

The best month for travel

The Shimla-Kinnaur Highway is open from the end of May to the beginning of October. Your vehicle journey to Spiti Valley should be scheduled for these months.

Temperature

Average highs in the summer are between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius.

Extremely severe snowfall in the valley during the winter months closes off all routes via the mountains and prevents any vehicle from reaching the valley.

Why is Spiti every traveller's heaven?

Every adventurer's dream is a bike tour through Spiti Valley, but is this the best area for your vacation? Let's work it out.

Spiti is not for the faint of heart due to its treacherous landscapes. It's subject to severe weather, and getting there involves traversing difficult terrain. The accommodations you find along the route and at the motels, you stay at will be barebones at best. Only monasteries and homestays will be available in some locations. Travelling to Spiti is not for everyone.

Some people journey to Spiti in search of peace, others for the thrill of exploration, and yet others to gain access to the legendary treasures of the Trans-Himalayan region. Young people looking for adventure and mountain enthusiasts on a bike vacation are common sights in Spiti.

Spiti is also a wonderful place to visit if you are nomadic and enjoy discovering new places. Going on a solo vacation to Spiti Valley is something that can't be described, only experienced. Peace on an epic scale, enormous landforms around you, and a healthy dose of oxygen. Solo travel to Spiti is highly recommended if this line of thinking appeals to you.

Getting to Spiti Valley

You can get into Spiti in two different ways.

It is possible to reach Kaza from Manali through the Rohtang Pass. You can get to Manali via plane, train, or car. From July through October, you can take the bus regularly from Manali.

You are beginning in Kinnaur and making your way to Shimla. You can get to Shimla via air, train, or road. You can take a bus from Shimla to Kaza from May until October.

Between April and October is the peak season for vacationing in these places. It's a good idea to find out if the high passes are passable and the roads are in good shape before setting out on your journey.
